How We Met

A friend was visiting my long-time single self. She was surfing thru an online dating app and insisted I do it too. Just for fun and to be a good friend I jumped on. We giggled our way thru all the eligible guys out there, clicking and swiping for a while. We were having such fun. Then….

My phone blinged with a match! OMG I hadn’t planned on that! I threw my phone at my friend and squeeled OH NO! She grabbed it up and we ooh and aah’d at the cute guy that liked me back. She insisted I respond… so I did.

John and I met at a tropical paradise, outside, at my favorite restaurant in the everglades….

We were a perfect match.

I’ve always been a bit of an adventurer, I love change!

When I became sick a few years back I learned that the cause was the food I was eating. After lots of tests, trials and ouches I found that I don’t have the enzymes to break down grains and dairy. This makes eating a problem.

I found that all-natural, home-grown foods, a vegan diet and making my own cleaning and hygiene products have become a way of life. However, growing in my tiny little plot of land in Naples causes my HOA grief.

So we decided to set off on a journey to find a plot of land where I can grow my food, and have goats and chickens.

I have a very low tolerance for all things chemical. So buying anything from a conventional store causes me problems. Ugh! A medicinal garden is going to be a primary part of our garden. If they grow as they do in my current garden I’ll have plenty to share. Follow along as I blog about what I learn.

I am a community-driven, creative who needs other artists/creatives in my life. So I plan to have art classes as well as welcome people to the garden to learn and experience a more natural way of life.

I can wait to find my tribe!

I do not believe in the word can’t.

I am a very creative person. I think outside the box. I was brought up by a single mom with three kids. I was taught to work hard and smart and to make the most out of life. I have a deep south heritage that encourages living off nature as much as possible. I love being healthy. I work hard and play even harder.

Since Denise has come into my life things have been amazing. We have been studying and experimenting with growing foods of all kinds. We love it so much that we are beginning this new journey to create a homestead where we can further our studies and share with others our dreams and discoveries.
